Two Luweero Residents Found Dead in Rented Room

Police in Luweero is investigating the death of two residents of Busula A zone in Katikamu Sub County, whose bodies were discovered this afternoon in their rented room. The deceased has been identified as Robert Kanyike and Emma Kamoga.

Sulaiman Mugalasi, an area resident explains that the two were last seen at midnight, and did not appear to have any health challenge. However, a friend was concerned about their failure to report to work today and alerted colleagues and authorities, prompting a search.

Mugalasi says that Local Council Officials worked together with the Police to break the house locks at midday. The two were found lying on the bed facing down. The deceased settled in Busula trading center a week ago from Kalongo Sub County in Nakasongola district.

On the stove was a pan of beans, which was boiling, in preparation for the business routine the next day. The two men were running a chapatti business in the area.

Luweero District Police Commander Benson Byaruhanga confirmed the incident and says that they were waiting for a postmortem report to confirm the cause of the death. By the time of filling the report, Police officers from Busula police post and Wobulenzi Police Station were still at the scene recording statements from the residents.

The annual crime report for 2017 ranked Luweero the third district with the highest cases of homicides in Uganda. The report indicated that 93 cases of homicide were reported in Luwero district in 2017. Another District Police Report revealed that at least 63 cases of homicide were recorded from January to June 2018.
