Two men were
on Friday lynched for allegedly vandalizing the Nsuube-Mutai power line, in
Buwenge sub-county, Jinja District.

On noticing the early morning power outage, the residents trailed the suspected
vandals who identified themselves as UMEME employees, but they failed to
present their work identity prompting the residents to become suspicious.
Salim Mwase, a resident says that some of the suspects were dressed in UMEME
overalls, but since they failed to explain why such a sensitive operation was
carried out in the wee hours, the angry residents lynched them.

Tabu, the Officer in charge of Mutai Police Station says that the detectives
searched the victims, and a National Identity Card in the name of Fred Mukasa
was recovered.
Tabu adds that two rolls of electricity wires, pliers, and other metallic
equipment, were recovered from the scene of the crime.
