Police detectives have recorded statements from the guards who were on duty on the buildings next to pump station.
Police are investigating the killing of two people at Loris Oil Pump Station in Nankuwadde in Bulenga along Mityana Road this morning. The deceased include Andrew Byonanebye, a pump attendant and Ibrahim Ssengooba, a charcoal truck driver.
The two were killed by unknown gunmen at around 4am this morning. The assailants made away with unspecified among of money.
Preliminary investigations show that the pump attendant could have been tied before being strangled to death while the truck driver was hit with a blunt object on the head before he was also strangled to death.
Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, says they have started investigations. "Police rushed to the scene in the morning to manage the scene of crime and the bodies were taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem," Kayima said.
Police detectives have recorded statements from the guards who were on duty on the buildings next to pump station. This is the first robbery at a pump fuel station, since police foiled a robbery attempt at City Oil in Kamwokya, where the Police Flying Squad shot two suspected robbers.
While findings from the operation remain a mystery, the operation had kept robbers especially in Kampala and surrounding areas off Pump fuel stations. There is also a standing order for deployment of Police patrol near each fuel station.
However, it is not clear whether there was a police patrol team near Loris Oil Pump Station during the attack.
