Bosco Mabuya, the LCII chairperson of Nabumbo ward at Bukhaweka Town Council and the political assistant to Namisindwa County MP Apollo Masika is in critical condition after being attacked by unknown assailants. The incident occurred on Thursday last week in Butsawo cell, Nabumbo ward, Namisindwa District.

Mabuya, who spoke to our reporter from Kampala where he is hospitalized, recounted that on Thursday evening around 8 p.m., he was heading to his mother's home Maria Lunyolo, which is near his residence. He reported seeing two individuals dressed in skirts, and armed with manchettes.

When Mabuya approached them to inquire about their presence, they attacked him, inflicting wounds to his ribs, back, and head before fleeing the scene.  Tomas Taswu, the LCI Chairperson of the area, responded to the alarm and transported Mabuya to the Nabukhuya police post before taking him to the hospital.

Apollo Masika, the Member of Parliament for Namisindwa County, has described the attack as politically motivated, alleging that his opponents are behind it in an attempt to undermine him ahead of the elections. Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner, confirmed the incident, saying that police are actively investigating it.

She revealed that Bukhaweka and Bumbo Town Councils are dealing with a group of youths known as B2C 16, who have been causing disturbances in the area.  She explained that security forces are intensifying their efforts to arrest these individuals. Attempts to reach Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region police spokesperson, for comment, were unsuccessful as he was locked up in a meeting.
