Two Poachers held in Kanungu

Peter Angwara, the Kanungu district police commander confirms that the two were traced and arrested by game rangers who found them in possession of sharp spears, snares and wild meat. They were later handed over to Kanungu police station.


Police in Kanungu District, in the south western part of Uganda is holding two suspected Poachers who were arrested over the weekend in queen Elizabeth National Park with wild meat.

In detention is Vicensio Kabinduma (38) from Matanda and Bendera Ruteikaza (30) from Kikarwa village in Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District.

 

The two are said to have on several occasions killed animals for meat from the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kihihi sub county, Kanungu district.

Joshua Masereka the Ishasha sector chief warden says that the poachers normally target wild pigs and other small animals which they trap using metallic wires.
