The U-20 Women’s National Team have departed to Nairobi ahead of
their clash against Kenya in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The first leg
is slated for Saturday, 25th September in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
The team under the stewardship of Coach Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi entered a residential
training camp at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru on September 8.
During the training, the team played three friendly games against the senior
women team where they managed to win only one game.
Kiyingi named a squad of 20 players from those that were training at
Njeru. The squad comprises two
goalkeepers, six defenders, seven midfielders and five forwards.
Kiyingi indicated that the squad can register a good result ahead
of the return leg in Kampala two weeks later.
“I think these are the best players we have selected to go and do the job. I
have the belief that the squad selected is competent to help us secure the
result we want.” He said.
The team was also boosted with the late arrival of star forward Juliet
Nalukenge who will lead the striking force as they battle neighbours Kenya. The
return leg is expected to be played in two weeks. The winner of the tie on aggregate will
advance to the next stage.
Fauzia Najjemba, the Team Captain said she is delighted to lead her players to

team and I promise we shall have all the best that we can because we need to
qualify for the world cup, I want to score as many goals because I need to lift
my team, I know Kenya is a physical team but we are also prepared”. She said
