The official website of the Ugandan Embassy in Brussels still displays Maria Mutagamba as minister for Tourism, more than two years after she died.

The website, https://brussels.mofa.go.ug/data-smenu-47-The-Cabinet-of-Uganda.html, hasn't been updated for several years. Some of the important information on the website related to various ministries dates to as far back as 2015, a year before the 2016 general elections after which there was a cabinet reshuffle.

For instance, the First Lady and Education and Sports Minister, Janet Kataaha Museveni, still appears as Karamoja Affairs Minister, three years after she was appointed Education Minister. Prof Sandy Stevens Tickodri Togboa, who served for 15 months as Higher Education and Technology State Minister and left cabinet, still appears on the list as a minister.

John Chrysostom Muyingo, the incumbent Higher Education State Minister, according to the embassy website, is the state minister for Primary Education, a position he last held in 2016.

Fred Ruhindi, who is currently serving on the Justice Catherine Bamugemereire Land Commission, also appears as the country’s Attorney General. He was last in cabinet in May 2016.

A Ugandan who raised alarm on the outdated information on the website through social media couldn’t hide his frustration. “It's a shame that a Ugandan embassy cares less about having facts right on its web pages,” he said.

He added: “Check out the Brussels page, [you] will be shocked to see Alupo, Nasasira’s names as members of the cabinet.”  The duo, Jessica Alupo and John Nasasira was dropped from cabinet in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The website presents Katikamu North MP Abraham Byandala as Minister without Portfolio (in-charge of Political Mobilization) instead of Hajji Abdul Nadduli who is the incumbent minister. Crispus Kiyonga, the current Uganda's Ambassador to China, is still the Defense Minister on the embassy website.

Jim Muhwezi is still minister in charge of the ICT and National Guidance while the current office bearer Frank Tumwebaze appears as the Presidency Minister, a position currently occupied by Esther Mbulakubuza Mbayo since 2016.

Our reporter was unable to get an official comment from the embassy about the website. This isn’t the first time an official government website presented outdated information.

About two years ago, the official State House website presented outdated information about the Office of the President and was only updated by the prompting from a URN reporter.
