Uganda, South Africa share lead as 2015 Africa Zone VI Golf Championship starts

Hosts Uganda and defending champions have taken the lead as the 2015 Africa Zone VI Golf Championship started on Thursday at the Par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kitante Course in Kampala.

After the individual events, Uganda and South Africa finished Day 1 with 6.5 points a piece to top the day. Ugandan team captain Adolf Muhumuza said they are happy that after the first day they have collected six games won, one draw and a loss.

Uganda\'s players who won their games included Ronald Bukenya, Robert Oluba, Martin Ochaya, Lawrence Muhenda, Happy Robert, Ronald Otile, while the captain Muhumuza settled for a draw and Gideon Kagyenzi lost.

The event which goes a long way in giving the best players in Africa a highly competitive platform to showcase their talent and gain experience has attracted nine nations will climax on Saturday.

Zimbabawe and Kenya are joint second with 5.5 points each after Day one. Tristen Strydom, the South African captain told Xinhua News that hope to put up a better performance on Friday so that they keep up with the pressure.
