Sand Cranes will face Comoros in the qualifiers of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations - AFCON Qualifiers.
In the draw conducted on Friday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the first leg will be played between July 22-24th, while the return leg takes place August 5-7th.
The winners over two legs will qualify for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations that will take place October 21-30th in Maputo. Mozambique.
The fourteen
teams including Cameroon, Comoros, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Libya,
Madagascar, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Tanzania, and Uganda
will tussle it out in the qualifiers for the seven places.
After
the qualifiers, the seven qualified teams after winning their respective doubleheaders will join 2021 runners-up Mozambique
who qualify automatically as hosts.
Uganda
will be hoping to return to the continent’s biggest Beach soccer tournament for
the second time, after making their debut in the last edition of the
championship that was hosted by Senegal in 2021. During
the the tournament in Senegal, Uganda Sand Cranes finished fourth after falling to
Mozambique in the semifinal, and Morocco in the playoffs.
Senegal are the defending champions after defeating Mozambique 4-1 in the final in 2021.
