Unidentified Body In ‘School T-shirt’ Found In Kyotera

Police in Kyotera are investigating to establish the identity of an unidentified man in his late 20s, whose lifeless body was found in a bush. Residents of Sanje village in Kasasa sub-county stumbled on the decomposing body on Saturday evening. 

They notified the local leaders who called police to the scene. According to Steven Ssebunya, the Kakuuto Town Council LC III Chairperson, police from Kasasa liaised with Kakuuto police to pick up the body and took it to Kakuuto Health Centre IV where it is being kept in the meantime.

He explains that he has offered a portion of land to bury the deceased in case no one claims the body this week. The deceased was donning a T-shirt of St. Mary's Kitende SS raising suspicion that the deceased could be a student. But preliminary inquiries later established that the deceased was a herdsman.

The authorities have not been able to establish how the deceased met his death. Muhammad Nsumbuga, the Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, says that the circumstances surrounding the deceased’s death is still a mystery, adding that a postmortem is yet to reveal the cause of death. 

Dr. Denis Eremu, the In-charge Kakuuto HCIV, says they have delayed burying the body hoping someone will claim it.  He has appealed to anyone with information that can aid their investigations to reach the police.  Police have opened inquiries vide file Ref/03/19/12/ at Kasasa police station.
