Unidentified Body Retrieved From Iganga Swamp

Moses Muwaya, the chairperson of Rice farmers in Naigombwa wetland, says the decomposing body was cited by children who were fishing in the swamp Sunday morning.
A decomposing body of unidentified man has been retrieved from Naigombwa swamp in Iganga district.

Moses Muwaya, the chairperson of Rice farmers in Naigombwa wetland, says the decomposing body was cited by children who were fishing in the swamp Sunday morning.

“This swamp is wide and home to mud fish. Two were fishing when they noticed the body floating on water and alerted us,” he said. Muwaya suspects that the deceased could have been killed and his body dumped in the swamp.

“I have crosschecked his identity throughout the surrounding areas but none of the village chairpersons know him,” he said. David Ndaula, the Iganga District Police Commander, says they have handed over the body to Iganga General Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

He however, ruled out the possibility of murder, saying the body is intact. “I can’t plainly confirm any possibility of murder as the body lacked physical injuries but a complete report shall be released after postmortem,” he said.
