Lwengo police are investigating
the gruesome killing of a 60-year-old catechist.
Richard Mbaziira, a resident
of Kyaboggo village, Nkoni parish, Kkingo sub-county was alone at home when
unknown assailants killed him on Sunday night but his body was found lying
behind his house, around 10 am on Monday morning.
The deceased has been the
secretary for the catechist committee at Nkoni catholic Parish. Unknown assailants
hit the deceased on the head with a blunt object several times and left his
body in the backyard.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the Masaka Regional Police
Spokesperson, says that they have begun investigations to bring the culprits to
book.

He says no arrest has
been made so far but inquiries are ongoing.
Aloysius Kibira, the Kkingo Sub
county LC III Chairperson, says that Mbaziira is the third person to be killed
in Kkingo sub-county in less than two months after two reservists John Kabanda,
60, a resident of Bigando village and Vincent Kalya, 40, of Nzizi village were
killed on foot patrol on July 21, 2021.

Kabbi Ssenkatuka, the
Kyabbogo LC I chairperson, says that Mbaziira was a humble person who never had
a grudge with anyone as far as they know.
He appealed to the police to expedite
investigations into the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Mbaziira becomes the
tenth murder victim in Lwengo district by unknown assailants in a space of two
months.
