Driver Arrested for Knocking Child Dead

Reports obtained by Uganda Radio Network (URN) suggest that Mulimba lost control of the vehicle registration number UBF 576R, and veered off the road, resulting in the accident. The children were playing by the roadside when they were struck by the speeding vehicle.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson comfirmed the arrest and detention of the UNOC driver after te accident.
Police in Hoima are currently detaining John Mulimba, 33, a driver following an incident where he knocked a 6-year-old girl to her death and critically injured three others.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 9 a.m. at Kayera village in Kigaaga Parish, Kabaale sub-county. The deceased, identified only as Sharon, and the injured victims—Faidah, 7, Alfred Ofoymungu, and another Faidah, aged 10—are residents of Kayera village, Kigaaga Parish, Kabaale Sub County in Hoima district.

Mathias Oribi, the father of the deceased, recounted hearing the children's cries for help and rushing to the scene, only to find them injured by the vehicle. Unfortunately, his daughter had already succumbed to her injuries by the time they arrived.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, confirmed that the police promptly responded to the incident, apprehending Mulimba. He was taken to Hoima Central Police Station, where he remains in custody as investigations into the matter commence. 

Hakiza revealed that the deceased's body was transported to Hoima City Mortuary for postmortem examination, while the injured victims received medical attention at Mukonjo’s Clinic in Buseruka Trading Center.
