National Roads Authority (UNRA) is set to construct 27 bridges across the
country to ease transport. The decision stems from a study conducted by the
Authority in 2013, which identified 106 bridges across the country that need to

Nambola, Nametsimeri, Ukha, Sahana, Khamitsaru and Rubongi in Lot 3, Rwembyo,
Kajwenge, Kamira, Nyakambu, Maziba and Kiruruma in Lot 4 and Malaba-2,
Malaba-3, Okane and Halukada and Koch, Osu and Odrua in lot 5.
are found in the districts of Kampala, Manafwa, Arua, Malaba and parts of
western and south Uganda. Eng. Lawrence Pario, the Head of Bridges and Structures
in UNRA, says construction of the new bridges will start in April 2021 when the
ongoing bidding process is finalized.

Bageya Waiswa, the Ministry of Works and Transport-MoWT permanent Secretary,

rolling plan depending on the progress of the works.
