The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning just before 5.00am at Nyakasene village Buseruka Sub county Hoima district.
Joseph Maada, the 303 Brigade Counter Intelligence Officer in an interview with
Uganda Radio Network explained that the deceased UPDF officer disappeared four
days ago together with his gun from their Barracks in Kabaale Buseruka sub
county of Hoima district under unclear circumstances, adding that they have been
hunting for him.
He says this Morning,
residents in the area heard a gunshot and later reported to Kabaale UPDF Detach
that a body of a UPDF officer was found lying in a pool of blood near
Nyakasenene Catholic church in Kabaale parish.

himself in the neck and died instantly. His gun was also found lying by his
side at the crime scene.

identified as Lance Corporal Simon Peter Bongomin, 32, attached to the barracks
military police training wing.
