A Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF water truck knocked dead a motorcyclist at Rushakyi in Southern division in Kabale Municipality along Kabale-Mbarara High Way on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Wilbroad Kyengabo, a resident of Kakyuro village in Kigata parish in Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district.

Kyengabo was riding a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UEU538F when he was crashed by the UPDF truck registration number X4DF attached to the 19th Battalion at Kihumuro hill in Kabale as he was trying to join the highway.

A UPDF soldier who was on the truck told URN on condition of anonymity that Kyengabo breathed his last as they were preparing to rush him to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, says the deceased body is lying at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

He says preliminary investigations show that the truck driver identified as Daniel Orach was speeding and couldn’t break because Kyengabo joined the road carelessly.
