The construction works for the upgrade
of Bumusi Health Centre II in Bududa district to health center III have
commenced. The Shillings 617 million project is being undertaken by Bam
Construction and Surveyors LTD at Bumusi parish in Nalanza sub-county in Bududa
district.
The project is in fulfilment of the government’s pledge to upgrade
health center II’s to three in a bid to improve health service delivery to
communities. The project is expected to be completed within a space of eight
months. It comprises the construction of maternity ward, three-stanza pit
latrine, placenta pit and medical works pit and renovation of the old
outpatient department (OPD).

George William Wopuwa, the Bududa Resident District Commissioner has hailed
those who donated the land where the facility is being constructed. He asked
the contractor to begin ferrying materials to the site especially at this time
when the rains are about to start.

Tappy Namulondo, the Bududa Chief Administrative Officer has asked the
contractor to finish works in time to avoid other complications. Elina Namasopo,
one of the residents is excited about the project, saying they used to have
only immunization and counselling services at the facility.
Robina Shisa, another mother hailed the government for the development, saying
they have been trekking over 10 kilometers to Bududa hospital to access treatment.

Rogers Shibuta, a husband of an expectant woman, says this will help their
wives to get to and from the health unit on the time given the weather in Bududa
district. He also says the facility will come with other services like
electricity and a road, which shall benefit them as a community.

Godfrey Namable, the Assistant Bududa District Health Officer has asked the
community to cooperate with the contractors for better work. He said they will
also give them more health workers to serve them unlike compared to what has
been happening at the health center II.
