Uganda Revenue Authority- URA has arrested an impostor who has been defrauding unsuspecting taxpayers since 2015.

Batte Kasim Abdul was arrested on Monday in Kampala as he tried to convince people to pay him money to help them buy cars from URA under the auction arrangement. He's suspected to have defrauded several people of millions of cash.

According to URA, Kasim told one of the complainants who led to his arrest, about the availability of a Harrier and a Sahara Pick-up vehicle which he said were both in good condition.

He was arrested dressed in Uganda Revenue Authority staff uniform with logo and customs pips.

Abdul had already collected 1.2 million shillings which was purportedly to be shared between himself and the Commissioner Customs, and after some time he was given 200,000 shillings as a fee for the number plates for each vehicle.
