Joseph Mwebe, the Presiding Officer Kifamba Sub County, attributed the delay to a lack of voters. He said that the polling officials and voting materials were delivered earlier, but voting could not start.
Voting delayed for the Kifamba Male Youth Councilor in Rakai District. Although the voting materials were delivered
at various polling stations by 7 am, voting started at 10:30 am.
The three candidates
contesting for the seat are Alex Kiweewa of National Resistance Movement (NRM),
Sharif Ssaku of the National Unity Platform (NUP), and Yosam Ssuuna an
independent.

the electoral process including the time when voting will start.

By 11:20 a.m, at
least 30 out of 171 youths in the register had voted while others were still
arriving at Kifamba polling station.
Eriab
Ssango, the Rakai NUP Chairman, says they have mobilized the electorate to turn
up in big numbers and vote for their candidate Ssaku.
According to
Ssango, they want to regain the seat after the death of Augustine Jaggwe who died
in a car accident, a month after he was elected.

Elsewhere,
the situation is still calm in Lwentulege Town council where Jawuria Nakuya
(NRM) and Teddy Nalugemwa (independent) are contesting for the position of
Female Elderly Representative while Nowelina Namugga (NRM) and Erivania Namazzi
(independent) are contesting for the Female Elderly Representative for Mweruka
Town council.
Milly
Nakajwala (NRM) and Jovian Kabarokore (Independent) are vying for the PWD
Female Councilor for Lwamaggwa Town council.
Sylvia
Kyohairwe Tegyeza, the Rakai District Returning Officer, asked the
voters to follow the guidelines and to freely vote for the candidates on the ballot
papers. She further appealed to the voters to leave the polling station
shortly after voting and return during vote counting.
