Voting In Isingiro Kicks Off At Low Pace

Voting in Isingiro district has kicked off but with low turn up at most polling stations.



By 7:00am most polling stations were empty save for the polling officers, agents.



At Kanyerere polling station, voting started at 8: 30 am, after the first voters arrived to witness the opening of the ballot box. Some of the voters turned up early just to witness the opening of the ballot boxes.



About 80 voters were in the queue At Mabona 11 polling station by 10 am.



Harriet Kashangare, the returning officer, however says voter turn up is slightly low because most of the voters are in their fields. She is however optimistic that the numbers could surge after lunch.



Two people Grace Byarugaba of the National Resistance Movement Party and Stella Kafureka of the FDC contesting in for the Isingiro woman MP seat.



The seat fell vacant after the death of Vicky Kyaaka who died in a motor accident, late last year.
