A survey conducted by our reporter revealed that by 8:48 AM, 28 voters had already cast their ballots at Kisoro New Park polling station in Kisoro municipality. However, at the Rushabarara Primary School polling station in Rubuguri Town Council, voting materials arrived at 8:50 AM, causing a slight delay due to faulty biometric machines.
Voting is currently underway in the Kisoro District Woman Parliamentary by-election, with six candidates vying for the position.
The contenders include Independent Grace Akifeza Ngabirano, Rose Kabagyeni from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Juliet Musanase from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Najjanankumbi faction, Aisha Chimpaye of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Sultana Salim Tana from the National Unity Platform (NUP), and Meble Ingabire from the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).
Julius Musinguzi, the Electoral Commission spokesperson, confirmed that the dispatch of voting materials began promptly at 4:00 AM without any setbacks, as the weather was favorable. He further mentioned that voting had started by 7:30 AM at most polling stations across the district.

An Electoral Commission vehicle, a double cabin with registration number UG1006B, was unable to reach Kisharu polling station in Nombe Ward, Rubuguri Town Council, due to hilly terrain and poor road conditions. As a result, polling officials were forced to carry the materials on their heads.
Voting at Igabiro Primary School polling station in Rubuguri Town Council started smoothly after the materials arrived at 7:45 AM. Meanwhile, voting at Nyakabande Polling Station in Nyakabande Sub County also began smoothly around 7:30 AM.
By 8:10 AM, voting had yet to begin at Rutoma Primary School polling station in Rubuguri Town Council, as many voters were delayed in arriving. At several polling stations in Kirundo, Bukimbiri Sub Counties, Rubuguri, and Nkuringo Town Councils, representatives from NUP, UPC, PPP, and FDC parties were absent.
