Walukuba Barbarians RFC beats Plascon Mongers RFC 47-30
Walukuba Barbarians defeated Plascon Mongers 47-30, during their faceoff at the Jinja city's based Abel Dhaira Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides registered a balanced performance in the first minutes of play, however, Walukuba edged out with a try, earning five straight points for his side.

Mongers stepped up their score with a try, which was successfully converted, earning themselves seven points in a row.

Walukuba however flared up in the rare last-minute play with 47 points, leaving Mongers to trail with 30 points out of this encounter.

Mongers coach, Brian Makalama on tactical shortfalls, creating room for their opponents to sail through their defence areas with ease.

Makalama argues that their opponents capitalized on these inadequacies to squarely outcompete them in the game.

Makalama however insists that his side enjoyed a good share of the game, but was unable to capitalize on these advantages to win. "I think our tactics were not right enough, we gave out so much possession, we did not commit in defence, that's what Walukuba was able to capitalize on. Walukuba had a better game, although scores don't depict the real game, but our mistakes cost us," he says.

He further disclosed that their squad is marred with injuries, but they have set out plans to polish up and manage themselves to come out strong ahead of their next game.

Meanwhile, Walukuba's head coach Leonard Rubambura said that the boys played their best although missed out on a few tactics, which denied them the bonus point of the game.  "We played 70%, we did not play 100% to our strength, because the boys partly undermined the Mongers, which was not good, but they managed to regain control over the game, hence winning it all," he said.

Rubambura also notes that his side has been conceding so much in the dying minutes of the game, however, tables were turned around in their favour this time round, which equally contributed to their victory.

Rubambura expresses enthusiasm for capitalizing on today's win to excel in their next week's game against Warriors RFC.
