Female aspirants in Kasese District have expressed concern over the marginalization of women in politics.

Some women who have already shown interest in the district politics blame the highly commercialized politics for setting unfair grounds for women that lack adequate resources to rally for support.

Sarah Ithungu Baleke, who plans to contest for Kasese Woman MP Seat says there is lack of mentorship programs to empower them so that they can compete for bigger elective positions in parliament and lower councils.

“Women have been left behind in terms of being equipped to free join politics that is why most can’t challenge men in those positions,” Baleke says.

Marylyn Kabugho Kighotha another aspirant says the politics in the district has been bent towards money which has affected women ability to fully participate.  She says most women don’t have resources to give out to the demanding electorates.

Grace Biira urges that several rich politicians have diverted the core values of elective politics from service delivery to offering aid.

Doreen Lhusenge another aspirant wants strong laws against candidates who will use money or undermine women in campaigns and during elections.
