A hydro form machine donated to youth leaders in Kabarole district in 2014 is still grounded in the yard.

President, Yoweri Museveni donated the machine, which has the capacity of molding at least 2,000 interlocking bricks daily upon request from the then district youth leadership.

Boniface Birungi, the Kabarole District Youth Chairperson, says that that hydro form machine has not served its intended purpose since it was donated.

Timothy Ruhweza, a former district youth councilor and now district speaker admit that the machine has never been of any value to the youths ever since it was donated.

He is, however, optimistic that the youth would benefit from the machine following a council resolution last year allowing a private person to hire the machine and pay a monthly fee to the youth.

Gideon Ruta, the former Kabarole district Gender Secretary, says that the youths failed to utilize the machine when it was delivered due to missing parts. He, however, says that even when the parts were later delivered, the youths still failed to utilize the machine.

Edinali Kwikiriza, the Kabarole Male Youth district councilor, says that they expect the machine to start working following their resolution to hire it to a private entrepreneur last year. Kwikiriza says that the private user will pay the council Shillings 300,000 monthly for using the machine.
