Bernard Moro, the victim's father, claimed that the Police with support from the suspect's colleagues, pledged to pay him four cows and 2million Shillings to settle the matter but he rejected it all.
A police Constable attached to Yumbe Police Heath
Center 3 has been committed to Arua high Court to face charges of defiling a 17-year-old
girl.
It’s, alleged that Morphat Kamure Alicemari, 32, attached
to Yumbe Police Health Centre II unlawfully defiled a girl below the age of 18
on September, 30 at the health facility when the victim had come to seek
medical care and was charged of aggravated defilement.
Appearing before the Grade One Magistrate, Hillary
Kiwanuka at Yumbe Magistrate Court on Thursday for the mention of the case, the
Magistrate said the court has no jurisdiction to handle the case.
Said the Magistrate: "This court can't handle such cases that are of
capital nature but it can only be tried in High Court. You will be
tried in the High Court and you are free to apply for bail at that level", he
said.
According to the Senior Resident State Attorney Jerome
Angena, investigation into the case is still going on.
"We haven't yet finished investigation into this
case so I pray that Court gives us ample time to finalize the investigation
about the matter", Angena prayed to the Court.
The suspect has been remanded till November18th when
he will reappear in Arua High Court for plea taking.
Bernard Moro the father of the victim expressed
happiness over the appearance of the suspect in the Court, saying he is happy
that the suspect has finally been produced in court because there has been too
much interference at the police.

Moro explained that the Police with support from his

Meanwhile in a similar development, Rashid Kawawa, 45
years, a resident of Bachu village in Odravu Sub County Yumbe district was also
remanded by the same Court for suspected incestuous defilement of a 17-year-old girl, a daughter of his sister.
Its alleged that the suspect defiled his sister's
daughter on October,7 and was remanded till November 18th when he will also reappear
in Arua High Court for plea taking.
